Exterior and Plazas of Guadalajara Cathedral

Four large public squares form a cross around the 77.8-meter-long cathedral. These pedestrian zones offer the best angles to view the yellow towers.

The cathedral anchors the historic center of Guadalajara. You can walk around the entire 77.8 by 72.75-meter footprint to see its blend of Spanish Renaissance architecture and later additions.

Visiting the exterior spaces requires no entry fee. The dry months of November through March provide the most comfortable weather for walking across the unsheltered cobblestone squares.

Neo-Gothic Spires

5 minsSunset views

The cathedral features twin yellow neo-Gothic spires standing approximately 65 meters (213 feet) tall. Workers rebuilt these towers between 1851 and 1854 after an earthquake destroyed the originals. View them from Plaza de Armas at sunset for the best lighting and photographs.
